Hungarian Ambassador Gabor Zsolt Szalay and his wife, Evelyn Forro Szalay, hosted a farewell reception on Tuesday in honor of departing Deputy Chief of Mission Istvan Szabo and counselors Peter Kunkli and Katalin Papp.
The reception, held in the residence garden, drew distinguished guests such as Justice and Development Party (AKP) Bingöl deputy Abdurrahman Anýk and head of the Prime Ministry's Human Rights department, Vahit Býçak. From the Foreign Ministry came Deputy Undersecretary of Economic and Cultural Affairs Ender Arat, Deputy Director-General of NATO and WEU Affairs Fatih Ceylan, Protocol chief Deniz Kýlýçer and the European Delegation to Turkey's political officer, Sema Kýlýçer.
Among the guests were also dean of the diplomatic corps Palestinian Ambassador Fouad Yaseen, Polish Ambassador Grzegorz Michalsk, ChargŞ© d'Affaires of the U.S. Embassy Nancy McEldowney, Lawyers' Association President Güneþ Gürsel, Ankara University Faculty of Letters Dean Necdet Adabað, Ýbrahim Kaboðlu of the Marmara University Faculty of Law and Osmaniye Mayor Davut Çuhadar as well as Deputy Director-General of State Theaters Tamer Levent and members of the Turkish-Hungarian Friendship Association.
The main topic of conversation at the reception was, of course, how the diplomatic corps here in Ankara has become accustomed to working together, and all three diplomats received good wishes for their future careers.
The guests also had a chance to meet the successors of the departing diplomats at the reception.
An open buffet dinner featuring Hungarian cuisine was served, accompanied by Hungarian wines.
The guests had an opportunity to chat and enjoyed a flawless Ankara sunset. |
